Watchlists

Organize the stocks you care about into multiple named watchlists with live prices, earnings dates, analyst targets, CL Scores, and pre/post market data. Sort by any column, drag and drop to reorder, bulk-import tickers, let the AI scan your whole list — and access it all from any device.

Creating and Managing Watchlists

ChartingLens lets you organize your stocks into multiple named watchlists — purpose-built groups that match the way you actually trade. Free accounts get one watchlist of up to 40 symbols; Premium unlocks 10 watchlists with unlimited symbols per list, and Pro removes the list limit entirely.

1

Create a Watchlist

Click the "+" button in the watchlist panel to create a new list. Give it a descriptive name — "Tech Earnings", "Swing Setups", "Dividend Plays", or whatever fits your strategy.

2

Add Symbols

Type a ticker into the search field to add it to your active watchlist. You can also use the star button in the chart header to instantly add the current symbol.

3

Rename or Delete

Right-click any watchlist name to rename it or delete it entirely. Deleting a watchlist removes all symbols from that list but does not affect your other watchlists.

4

Switch Between Lists

Click any watchlist name to switch to it. The panel instantly updates to show that list's symbols with their live data. Switching is instantaneous with no loading delays.

Live Data Per Symbol

Every symbol in your watchlist displays live market data that updates in real time. You get a compact but information-rich view of each stock without needing to open individual charts.

This live data turns your watchlist from a static list of tickers into a real-time market dashboard. You can monitor dozens of stocks simultaneously and instantly identify which ones deserve your attention based on price movement, volume, upcoming catalysts, and technical strength.

Sortable Columns

Click any column header to sort your watchlist by name, price, or percentage change. Sorting is extended-hours aware, too — you can rank your list by pre-market or after-hours moves, not just regular-session change. During earnings season, one click on the after-hours column shows you exactly which of your stocks are reacting, biggest movers first.

Pre/Post Market Prices

ChartingLens watchlists display pre-market and post-market (extended hours) prices when the regular session is closed. This is critical for traders who need to monitor overnight developments, earnings reactions, and gap setups before the opening bell.

During pre-market hours (typically 4:00 AM - 9:30 AM ET), each symbol shows the pre-market price alongside the previous close, so you can see exactly how the stock is gapping. After the regular session ends, post-market prices appear so you can track after-hours earnings reactions and late-day news events.

Why Extended Hours Data Matters

Many of the biggest stock moves happen outside regular trading hours — especially around earnings reports. Having pre/post market data in your watchlist means you can assess the situation before the market opens and adjust your trading plan accordingly, rather than being surprised by a gap at the open.

Drag and Drop Reordering

Your watchlist, your order. ChartingLens supports full drag-and-drop reordering within any watchlist. Click and hold any symbol, then drag it to a new position in the list. The new order is saved automatically and synced to your account.

This may seem like a small feature, but it makes a meaningful difference in daily workflow. Most traders want their highest-priority stocks at the top of the list — active positions, imminent earnings plays, or stocks with pending alert levels. Drag-and-drop lets you maintain that priority order without any friction.

Star Button Quick-Add

The fastest way to add a stock to your watchlist is the star button in the chart header. When you are viewing any stock's chart, a single click on the star icon adds that symbol to your currently active watchlist. Click it again to remove it.

This means you never have to leave the chart to manage your watchlists. As you scan through stocks — whether from AI signals, the screener, or your own research — you can star the ones that interest you and build out your watchlist organically as part of your normal charting workflow.

Bulk Import

Moving over from another platform, or turning a scan into a watchlist? Paste a comma-separated list of tickers — "AAPL, MSFT, NVDA, AMD, TSLA" — and the entire watchlist fills in at once. No adding symbols one at a time, no re-typing a list you already have somewhere else.

AI Watchlist Analysis

Premium and Pro users can hand an entire watchlist to the AI. Ask the AI Chat something like "Can you look at My Growth Watchlist and tell me which ticker is likely the best opportunity" and it scans every symbol on the list, weighs the technicals and fundamentals, and comes back with a ranked answer.

You can also ask the AI to rank your watchlist by any of 17 fundamental metrics — insider ownership, P/E ratio, short float, analyst upside, and more. Instead of checking each stock one by one, a single question orders your whole list by the metric you care about.

Insider Filing Notifications

Your watchlist works for you overnight, too. When a new insider filing lands for any symbol on your watchlists, it shows up in your daily digest — so you find out when executives are buying or selling the stocks you follow without ever checking filings yourself.

Cloud Sync

All of your watchlists are stored in the cloud and sync between your devices in real time. Add or remove a symbol, reorder a list, or create and rename watchlists on one device and every other signed-in device updates within a second — no refresh needed. The list you're currently viewing stays put; changes to other lists arrive quietly in the background.

Cloud sync also means your watchlists are never lost. Even if you clear your browser cache, switch browsers, or get a new computer, your watchlists are preserved in your account and ready to go the moment you log in.

How to Use Watchlists in Your Trading Workflow

Watchlists are more than just a list of tickers. Used strategically, they become a core part of your trading process. Here are some ways experienced traders organize their watchlists on ChartingLens.

Morning Scan List

Create a watchlist of 10-15 stocks you plan to trade or monitor for the day. Populate it the night before based on your scans, and use it as your focused dashboard during market hours. Remove stocks as setups play out and add new ones as they develop.

Sector Watchlists

Maintain separate watchlists for different sectors — Technology, Healthcare, Energy, Financials, etc. This lets you quickly assess sector rotation by scanning each list. When one sector is showing broad strength or weakness, you can focus your trading on that group.

Earnings Season Lists

Before each earnings season, create a watchlist of companies reporting in the coming weeks. Monitor their price action and options activity leading up to the report. After earnings, note the reaction and move stocks to a "Post-Earnings Follow-Up" list if they set up for a continuation trade.

Position Tracker

Keep a watchlist of your open positions so you can monitor them all in one place. Since the watchlist shows live prices and percentage changes, you get an instant portfolio snapshot without needing a separate portfolio tracker.

Pro Tip: Combine Watchlists with Alerts

For every stock on your watchlist that has a specific entry level, set a price alert at that level. This way, you can scan your watchlist for context and let the alert system handle the execution timing. You get the best of both worlds — broad awareness from the watchlist and precise notifications from alerts.
